My Broken Feet - a Villanelle
I’m grateful for my broken feet,
They taught me how to stand anew,
And dance along my favorite street.
Though pain can seem a cruel defeat,
Its lessons heal and guide me through,
I’m grateful for my broken feet.
Each scar, a song, each wound, a beat,
A rhythm steady, deep, and true,
That dances down my favorite street.
The cracks beneath me, bittersweet,
Have shaped the view I hold, askew,
I’m grateful for my broken feet.
Through struggles, life becomes replete,
With paths I never thought i’d pursue,
I dance along my favorite street.
So here I stand, with joy complete,
For all I’ve lost, I’ve gained anew.
I’m grateful for my broken feet,
and dance along my favorite street.
