This morning as I was taking out my garbage— mostly medical boxes and used tubing form my dialysis— I was hit with some warm droplets from the clouds gathered over my aparment building. As soon as I was tucked back into my apartment the thunder started. It shook my little area and each bang made me jump a little.
I still think it is early for monsoon season, but my brother says it is right on time.
We’ve needed rain because the last few years we have gotten so little moisture that even Lake Meade has shrunk so much that even the politicians were talking about water measures. If you watch normal instead of streaming TV, there is at least one or two ads per hour about saving water.
I hope the homeless are smart enough to leave the flood washes that were built for just this purpose— to keep Las Vegas from floating away in heavy rainstorms. Even though we are in the desert, water is still dangerous here.
I remember in the 90s, watching a news program where a fire truck had been caught in one of the LV floods. It floated down a main street with four people clinging to it. Yes, it would be embarrassing to be a rescuer, needing rescue.
So I still have to go to a doctor’s appointment on the north side of the city. It means that I need to be careful. If there is running water over the street where I need to go, I should turn back. If I can’t make it to the appointment, I need be unafraid to explain that it was the moonsoon that made it impossible to make it.
But I think that I’ll be okay. I don’t have to leave for two more hours, which means that maybe the rain will already be gone.
I went to get my water & just made it home by 3 mins. I have to drive with my windows down so it’s always nice to make it home before it starts raining😄💨⛈️💓
I hate making mistakes when I’m texting & then accidentally hitting Send or Post🥴💖
