The sun peeked throught the clouds this morning. Saturday it rained for hours. I heard the tink tink against the windows and air vents. Foxy was a cuddle dog and we watched the trees whip back in forth in the wind. It feels good to see the sun again.
When we (Otto and I) lived in Germany, we would wake up with two feet of snow on the ground. We would bundle up and break through the snow to get pictures of the heavy laden fir trees. Germans really love Christmas. Leading up to the big day, every small town would have a festival and a Christmas market.
They would have cauldrons of Gluewein (spiced wine) and would dip and pour the liquid into papercups. The villagers would drink and laugh as they looked at the decorations and the lights. Everything sparkled.
We have nothing like that in the States. I think we should appropriate the markets. They were so much fun and so social. You met all the residents of the village and became friendly. The chocolate. I cannot describe how good it tasted.
I don’t miss the cold though.
So today I am grateful that I am not cold and that I live in a snow-less zone. However sometimes I miss the sounds, the smells, the happiness of Christmas in Germany.
I get a bit of both~ Living in the Seattle area at the time💗🎄❄️☃️
