On January while sitting in the UMC kidney transplant office I was told that I would be put on the transplant list. Silly me. I thought that it was official then. Nothing is official until the paperwork is done.
Yesterday, I got a call from that same office that I was on the transplant list since March 28th and did I get the packet. I guess there are things I need to do to prepare for the transplant. Of course the packet didn’t show up yesterday.
My nurses excitedly told me that the last person with Fresenius who got a kidney about two years ago had gotten the kidney in the same month she was put on the transplant list. Here’s hoping that it will happen in a good time for me.
It’s been almost four years of being lost in the system, doing all of the tests twice and finally seeing the surgeon that I made it. The surgeon was startled that I hadn’t been on the list earlier. I look like a really good candidate.
One slight problem I seem to have is that my homocysteine levels are very low for a dialysis patiet. It will only become a problem after I have a kidney. It just means that I don’t assimilate B vitamins very well from food. The B vitamins combine to form homocysteine, which is an important amino acid.
Exhaustion seems to be my constant friend as well. I think that it might be hormone related because my labs look good to both my nephrologist and my primary care doctor. I will ask about my thyroid levels in the next two weeks.
I’ve reached the mountain so it’s time to blow the horn and celebrate. I’m on the transplant list.
That is soooo Awesome Cyn😂🥰 I can’t even begin to know how Happy you are!🥰🦋💞
